Deficient! That’s what Verizon has prefers to call it. If you haven’t yet seen the new advertisements put out by Verizon in time for the Christmas season, you may check them out on Verizon’s YouTube page. It seems like Verizon has gone the whole hog attacking the iPhone! In fact, it’s the iPhone carrier AT&T that has come under major fire.

Droid on Verizon to make things tough on Pre next year?
No comments · Posted by admin in Palm Pre, Verizon Wireless
the Pre will hit Verizon in ‘early 2010′ – but it’s going to be landing amidst a much more crowded field. The Pre will be up again the Droid, the Eris, and the Storm2. Had Palm not stuck with Sprint for so long, they could have had a window where the Pre would have have had a legitimate claim to be the solitary flagship device on big V.

AT&T hoping to get the Palm Pre before Verizon? [source: PreThinking]
No comments · Posted by admin in Palm Pre, Verizon Wireless
According to the a tipster over at Precentral, Palm showed off a GSM Palm Pre working on AT&T’s 3G network. There’s a chance AT&T might pick up the Palm Pre before Verizon.
Verizon has been rumored to get the Pre since before the Pre’s release date mainly due to the Verizon CEO saying they will be selling phones like the Storm 2 and the Palm Pre by the end of the year. Ralph Del La Vega, AT&T’s CEO, then followed up the very next day saying, AT&T will be carrying the Palm Pre by the end of the year. So we have both carriers lusting for this new device. Then as time goes on the rumors for Verizon fly as we hear more and more about them possibly getting the Palm Pre. At first it made the most sense that the Pre would end up on Verizon. Reason? Verizon is a CDMA network exactly like Sprint, Verizon is known for its lack of quality smartphones, and because AT&T already has the iPhone. What we didn’t think about is the fact that Verizon could be working with Google and may be perfectly happy with an Android offering. Verizon and Google announced their partnership and how they were going to focus on putting out great Android devices with an open take on things (see Verizon Droid). Then we have AT&T.
AT&T is hanging on to iPhone exclusivity by a thread. The GSM carrier is rumored to lose exclusivity in the coming months, making the Palm Pre the perfect rebound device for them. We saw screenshots of the rumored EOS before the Pixi was announced on an AT&T advertising pane, we have Verizon rumored to get it in the first quarter of 2010, and now we have rumors of AT&T possibly getting the Pre in January, which could mean a U.S. GSM Version before Verizon’s version. No matter how you look at it, it seems like the Palm Pre is still a phone worth having a rumor fight over. So whether it is Verizon or AT&T who gets it, lets just hope it happens fast.

iPhone on Verizon Looks Iffy — Don't worry will have the Verizon Pre
No comments · Posted by admin in Palm Pre, Verizon Wireless, iPhone
PC Mag has a report explaining why the chances are limited that will see the iPhone on Verizon, luckily will get the Palm Pre on Verizon soon.
This is Ivan Seidenberg, chief executive of Verizon Communications said today about the iPhone coming to Verizon: “This is a decision that is exclusively in Apple’s court,” he said during Verizon’s third-quarter earnings call. “We obviously would be interested at any point in the future they thought it would make sense for them to have us as a partner. And so we will leave it with them on that score.”
“What they have done has been successful, so we have to sit back and give them credit for that,” he said. “Our view is to broaden the base of choice for customers, and hopefully along the way, Apple, as well as others, will decide to jump on the bandwagon.”
Mr. Killian noted that Verizon will begin carrying the Palm Pre early next year and launches its own app store later this year.

Will the Palm Pre Bask in a Verizon Ad Blitz?
1 Comment · Posted by admin in Palm Pre, Verizon Wireless
GigaOm asks a good questions: Will Verizon go to so much effort for the Palm Pre as it does for the Droid?
The Pre’s momentum has dissipated since its June launch on Sprint’s network, and Palm last month had to raise roughly $313 million for working capital and general corporate purposes with a public offering of 20 million common shares of its stock. But while the company could get a boost from the Pixi — an affordable webOS handset aimed at younger users and scheduled to hit the market in time for the holidays — Verizon could play the role of Palm’s redeemer. The nation’s largest carrier operates arguably the best network around, and Verizon has consistently demonstrated its acumen at marketing smartphones.
But it’s that latest factor — marketing — that’s a concern. Verizon is already promoting the Droid with an impressive ad blitz, and it’s likely to back the upcoming Storm 2 with some serious marketing muscle as well. It’s possible the Pre could get lost in Verizon’s suddenly impressive smartphone portfolio. If Verizon chooses to invest heavily to promote the Pre, the handset could be a huge hit. If not, Palm’s days may be numbered.

The Android army: Verizon Wireless, Google ink collaboration pact [source: ZDNet]
2 Comments · Posted by admin in Verizon Wireless
In a non Palm Pre related news, but good news for Verizon loyal costumers, who did not ran away to get the iPhone, ZDNet reports that Verizon Wireless and Google said Tuesday that they will partner to co-develop a bevy of Android-based devices. The terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but the companies are looking to create innovative devices “pre-loaded with innovative applications from both parties as well as third-party developers.” According to the companies, the aim is to develop unique applications and get them to consumers quickly. The two companies also say they are committed to collaborating into the future.
For Verizon Wireless, which historically has trailed other carriers with bleeding edge devices, the deal with Google could help it be more of a leader in the buzz department. Meanwhile, a tight partnership with Google should give Verizon Wireless more clout with the developers it is trying to woo. And for Google the pact with Verizon Wireless means there will be more Android devices in the field.
We can’t wait for better phones in Verizon.
