Verizon Palm Pre | All about the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi on Verizon

It looks like the Palm Pre on Sprint could soon be dropping well under the $200 mark for a slightly longer period of time — at least if a purportedly legit leaked document is to be believed. According to PreCentral, the doc comes from someone working at a Sprint “indirect partner retail dealer,” and quite clearly indicates that “indirect partners” will be able to sell the Pre for $149.99 (after a mail-in rebate) between September 8th and October 31st, 2009.

Should you buy a Verizon Palm Pre?

Larry Dignan from ZDNet got to the conculusion that the slow startup time may be a deal breaker for him.

Sprint had been betting big on Palm Pre to make a strong play in the fast-growing and lucrative smartphone business. Unfortunately, things have not worked out as planned. Some analysts say that Sprint, which had hoped to sell 1-1.5 million Pre devices in the first year, will miss that target. Palm is selling about 25,000 devices a week, according to David Eller, an analyst with Town Hall Investment Research. The device is being hurt by the availability of the BlackBerry Tour, which is one of the best smartphone devices.

The Palm Eos was originally expected to launch in the US in the fourth quarter of 2009. Then we heard that it was delayed until 2010. Then another report said it was still planned for an October launch. Today, David Eller, the Townhall Investments Research analyst who expects Sprint (NYSE: S) to miss their Palm Pre sales targets for the current quarter, notes that the Palm Eos appears to still be on track for a November launch.

Phonearena released some data pics of Verizon’s inventory database. Two Palm devices, CodenamedP101 and P121, are there too — they are probably the Palm Pre and Palm EOS.

According to TechCrunch Palm plans to roll out deep integration with Google Voice on the Pre phones for users who want it, but there’s just one problem:  Google isn’t building an app for the Pre.

Officially Google is saying “Google is interested in bringing the mobile experience of its products to many platforms, including Palm, as we have for the Palm Pre with Google Search, Google Maps, and YouTube built in, as well as easy sync to Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Contacts. We look forward to providing a mobile experience for more Google products to Palm Pre users.”

A leaked Verizon Wireless data sheet, outlining its upcoming smartphone and mobile phone roster, hit the Web this week, offering insight into release dates for some long-awaited smartphones, including the BlackBerry Storm 2, the BlackBerry Curve 2 and the Google Android-based Motorola Sholes, among others.

The Verizon Wireless road map curiously leaves out the Verizon version of the Palm Pre, which Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam said would be available via Verizon by the end of the year. In a May Webcast, McAdam said the Palm Pre and another device from Palm, along with the BlackBerry Storm 2, would reach Verizon’s network within six months.

Precentral reports that shipments of the Palm Eos to Palm are indeed set to begin in October, which increases the chances for a 2010 release. The Eos is rumored to be a slightly lower-end device running webOS, with 4 gigs of internal storage and a slightly smaller screen than the Pre.

Here is another proof that Sprint Palm Pre is faster than the AT&T’s iPhone 3G.
Can’t wait to test it on Verizon Wireless.
